Nach einer Lehre als Weberin und einem Studium der Malerei begann Bechteler-Moses in den 1960er-Jahren ihre künstlerische Laufbahn. Dabei bewegte sich ihr Werk nicht nur im kreativen Austausch von Weberei und Malerei, sondern auch in dem von freier und angewandter Kunst: Neben vielen, teilweise monumentalen, raumgebundenen Werken entstehen freie Tapisserien, in denen sie eine eigenständige künstlerische Position entwickelt. Die Monografie präsentiert ihr Werk erstmals im Überblick und verdeutlicht die Entwicklung ihres Schaffens.
